CURRENT EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIESPosition: Coordinator of Education Hours: M-F 8:30am - 4:30pm (35 Hours) Supervisor: Manager of Visitor Services/Head of Interpretation and Education General Duties: Research, plan, and supervise school tour programs and day camp; supervise designated areas of informal interpretation, including Workers' Hill; participate in creation and execution of special events and public programs. Occasional evening and weekend work required. Specific Duties: 1. Supervise all aspects of existing school age programs. Supervise participatory tour deputies. 2. Research, write, and update interpretive materials for school age tours, including web-based materials. Includes complete development of materials for new tours, updating material for existing tours, and training appropriate staff to conduct. 3. Serve on a Workers' Hill Interpretation team with other department members. Work with Coordinator of Volunteers to plan and conduct training for new and senior interpreters. Work with other staff to plan maintenance of historic buildings and artifacts on Workers' Hill. 4. Participate in special events and programs development and implementation. Includes planning and supervision of Invention Convention. 5. Supervise all aspects of day camp. Initiate and coordinate all aspects of registration. 6. Participate on exhibit teams or other planning committees as assigned. 7. Other duties as assigned. Requirements: Extensive experience in museum education programs (both children and adult) and museum operations required; teaching experience preferred. BA in education, Masters or other advanced training desirable; interest in history and science/ technology fields. Excellent verbal/written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to train and supervise staff. Must have valid driver's license, own transportation, and availability to work occasional weekend and evening. Prefer prior supervisory experience, especially in museum field. Working knowledge of museum practices and standards. Ability to lift and carry; physical ability to walk.
